Infromation | This nostalgic post town where travelers could rest on the Ushu Highway is famous for its "Kaneyama Houses" with white walls and gable rooves and old warehouses. The "Ōzeki" irrigation canal runs through the center of the tranquil town. Nearby is Ōzeki Park, which has a resting pond for carps. There is also a monument commemorating the visit of the British writer Isabella Bird, who came to the town of Kaneyama in 1878. The "Koryu Salon Post Office" is a renovated post office with an old fashioned, round post box. The "Kigokoro Bridge" is a popular footbridge with a roof that is made using Kaneyama cedar wood. |
