There are many precious aquatic organisms such as the bluet dragonfly that live in Naganuma and Onuma, which are nature conservation areas designated by Yamagata prefecture. Naganuma is a mysterious swamp where the water level remains the same throughout the year. Its appearance changes with the seasons, with green trees and plants in spring, and autumn foliage. The view of the terraced rice fields of Shikamura from the observation deck is also beautiful. There is also a Bato Kannon Hayagriva nearby that was constructed in 1727, which is worshipped by the locals.
