"Shinjo Kameayaori" textile production started when Masatsugu Tozawa invited artisans in 1830 to develop an original craft for the region. The weaving process is extremely time consuming as it uses thin silk threads to create fine, detailed patterns. Even skilled experts are only able to weave about 10cm per day. Production stopped around 100 years ago, and for a time its quality was only legend. Works of this fabric have 20 different patterns, and its products have a glossy appearance due to how they are dyed after being woven. The facility offers weaving workshops and purchasable products on display.
