Kaneyama cedar trees are said to have been cultivated since feudal times. The giant cedar trees in the Ominowa district are nearly 300 years old, and they are still growing. There are 127 giant trees in an area of 0.87 hectares, and the tallest tree is 59 meters, which is taller than the tallest natural cedar tree in Japan at 58m. The largest trunk circumference is nearly 5m. It one of the world's largest artificial forests, with many of the trees over a hundred years old.
