| Infromation | According to legend, Akakura Onsen was found by the monk Jikaku Daishi in 863, and poet Matsuo Basho visited here to rest during his journey. Its natural springs are said to have healing effects. Nearby is Akakura Onsen Ski Slopes, which has compact but widely varied courses with excellent snow. Both skiing and snowboarding can be enjoyed on these courses, which have seen national competitions in the past. |
