The Tomiyama Bato Kannon is one of the 3 great Hayagriva statues in the Tohoku region. It is a tangible cultural property of the prefecture that was carved by Jikaku Daishi. This is the 31st temple of the 33 Mogami Kannon temples, and people pray here for livestock, spiritual and physical health, traffic safety, and protection from misfortune. There are around 200 wooden prayer plaques on the ceiling, and another 100 on the walls of the temple. There is also the giant Tochinoki tree, a natural monument of the prefecture.
